
In Early Middle Ages, Nibelung was the name of the lineage of the Burgundians, known above all for the XIIIth century epic poem telling the story of hero Sigfried ("Nibelungenlied").
In the XIXth century Richard Wagner based upon this poem his famous "The Ring of the Nibelung".
Called by Celtic peoples "feth fiada" (fairy fog), the mist hides what is around you forcing you to look above, hence its sacred nature.
